-
Confirm Country or Region: The first screen will ask, "Is this the right country or region?". Verify that your country is correctly selected and click Yes to continue.
-
Confirm Keyboard Layout: Next, you'll see the prompt, "Is this the keyboard layout or input method?". Ensure your preferred keyboard layout is selected and click Yes.
-
Add a Second Keyboard Layout (Optional): You'll be asked if you want to add a second keyboard layout. If you need an additional layout, configure it as desired and click Add layout. Otherwise, click Skip.

Connect to Your Network: The "Let's connect you to a network" screen will appear. Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and click Next. Enter the network password if prompted. A stable internet connection is crucial for the setup process.
-
Set Up for Work or School: You will now see the screen "Let's set things up for work or school". In the email address field, enter your Microsoft Inktavo email address (your
firstname.lastname@inktavo.comaddress) and click Next. -
Enter Your Password and Complete MFA:
- On the "Enter password" screen, type in your Microsoft Inktavo account password.
- Important Note: If this is your first time signing into your Microsoft account, the password is the same as your Google Inktavo password (which you use for email). Click Sign in.
- You will then be guided through the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) setup process. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure MFA using the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
-
Approve Sign-in Request: Once MFA is set up, you should receive a sign-in request on your Microsoft Authenticator app. Type the number displayed on your laptop screen into the app on your phone to approve the sign-in.
-
Automatic Setup: You will now see a screen that says "Setting up for work or school". During this phase, your device will automatically go through several steps:
- Device preparation: Getting your device ready for management.
- Device setup: Applying initial configurations.
- Account setup: Configuring your user account for Inktavo access. No action is required from your side during this process. Please be patient as this may take a few minutes.
-
Account Setup in Progress: You might see a pop-up message about setting up your account saying "This might take a few minutes. Don't turn off your PC." Allow this process to complete without interruption.
-
Final Configuration and App Installation: During the "Account setup" phase, your device will:
- Join the device to the Inktavo network (this will be your local network as you work remotely).
- Apply necessary security policies.
- Skip certificate configurations.
- Skip network connections.
- Install Apps: The device will automatically install essential applications. This step may take several minutes to complete dependent on device and internet speed (potentially up to 30 minutes before a timeout). It is best to allow the apps to install fully.
- Important: If this step encounters an error or times out, you might see a "Continue anyway" button. Only click "Continue anyway" if there is an error or timeout. Otherwise, let the app installation process finish.
-
Windows Hello Setup: Once the initial configuration is complete, you will see a prompt: "Use Windows Hello with your account". Click OK to proceed with setting up Windows Hello.
