Welcome to Inktavo! This guide will walk you through setting up and using your 1Password account, your secure vault for passwords and other sensitive information.
Account Activation
On your first day, you should have received an invitation email to your Inktavo inbox to join 1Password.
Open the invitation email.
Click the Join Team button.
-
You'll be prompted to create your 1Password account password (your Master Password). This is the most important password you'll have, so make it strong and memorable!
- It must be at least 12 characters long.
- It must include a combination of the following:
- One uppercase letter
- One lowercase letter
- One number
- One special character
- Crucially, it must be a password you can remember. If you forget it, the recovery process will require IT to assist you.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process. This may include setting up account recovery options.

Using 1Password
- Saving Logins: When you log in to a website, 1Password will offer to save your login details. Accept the offer to store it securely.
- Auto-filling Logins: When you visit a website you've previously saved, 1Password will automatically fill in your username and password. You may need to click the 1Password icon in the login form.
- Generating Strong Passwords: Use the 1Password password generator to create unique, strong passwords for new accounts.
- Sharing Passwords (Team Vaults): For shared passwords within your team, please contact your manager to request access to the appropriate team vault. For any other vault access requests, please submit a request to helpdesk@inktavo.com. Please note that manager approval will be required before IT can grant access.
Scan QR Code - 2FA Through 1Password
1Password can act as your authenticator app, storing and generating One-Time Passwords (OTPs) for other websites and services that support 2FA. This keeps all your 2FA codes in one secure place.
Getting Started
Find the 2FA Setup on the Target Website: Go to the website or service where you want to enable 2FA. Look for their security settings or account settings. They will usually have a section for "Two-Factor Authentication" or "2FA."
Note: You can also set this up during your account setup with the service when prompted. Just make sure you have the 1Password app or browser extension installed and unlocked.Choose "Authenticator App": The website should give you the option to use an "Authenticator app" (like the Google Vault, Duo, or Microsoft Authenticator). Select this option.
QR Code Displayed: The website will display a QR code. Do not scan this code with a separate authenticator app yet.
Create a New Login Item in 1Password (if needed): If you don't already have a 1Password item for the website you're setting up 2FA for, create one now. This is where you will store the OTP.
-
Add a "One-Time Password" field:
- Open the 1Password item for the website.
- Click the Edit button.
- Click the Add more button, then select Scan QR Code. This adds a field specifically for OTPs.
-
Scan the QR Code with 1Password:
- In the newly added "One-Time Password" field, click the Scan QR Code button. This activates the 1Password QR code scanner which should automatically scan your screen for a qualifying QR code and automatically add it to the login item.
Verify on the Website: The website will now ask you to enter a verification code. 1Password will now show the generated OTP in the "One-Time Password" field you just created. Enter this code into the website to complete the 2FA setup.
Now, whenever you need a 2FA code for that website, simply open the 1Password item, and the current OTP will be displayed in the "One-Time Password" field. 1Password will handle generating the codes for you.
