This guide outlines the manual steps every Inktavo user must take to preserve their settings and data during the transition from Inktavo to OMG.
Browser Data: How to Backup Chrome
Browser-specific data (extensions, bookmarks, and saved passwords) cannot be migrated. You must manually export these to your computer and then import them into your new OMG profile.
To Backup Bookmarks:
Open Chrome and click the three dots (top right) > Bookmarks and Lists > Bookmark Manager.
In the Bookmark Manager, click the three dots (next to the search bar) and select Export bookmarks.
Save the HTML file to your desktop. You will "Import" this file once you have your new OMG account.
To Migrate Passwords (Switching to 1Password):
We are using this transition as an opportunity to move all password management to 1Password. Do not import passwords back into your new Google Chrome profile; instead, move them into your 1Password vault.
If you do not have a 1Password account yet, please contact helpdesk@inktavo.com for assistance with account setup. For more information on 1Password, please check out our guide which you can find here.
In your Inktavo Chrome profile, go to Settings > Autofill and passwords > Google Password Manager.
Click Settings on the left-hand menu.
Under Export passwords, click Download File.
Import to 1Password: Open your 1Password account, select Import, and upload the CSV file you just downloaded.
Secure Your Data: Once the import is successful, permanently delete the CSV file from your computer.
3rd Party Apps: What to Expect
If you use "Sign in with Google" for tools like Zoom, Slack, Canva, etc., these connections will change and require re-authentication.
Why this happens: Even if your email address remains the same, your "Unique Google ID" changes when we move to a new Workspace. Third-party sites see you as a "new" user.
Pre-Migration Action: View your current connected apps by going to your Google Account Security settings. Make a note of which services you use.
Post-Migration Action: The first time you log into these apps after the move, you may need to "Sign in with Google" again to link your new OMG account or use the "Forgot Password" feature if the app requires you to set a local password.
Calendar & Google Meet
Calendar Subscriptions: Internal OMG/Inktavo meetings will migrate, but external subscriptions (e.g., "Holidays in United States" or calendars shared from outside the company) will not. You must re-subscribe to these manually.
Google Meet: Existing Meet links are tied to the old environment and will stop working.
Action: For any recurring meetings you own, you will need to generate a new Google Meet link in the new Workspace.
Gmail Settings
Emails will migrate, but your personal "look and feel" will not.
Manual Task: You will need to manually recreate your Gmail filters, label colors, and user settings (like your signature or theme) in the new account. We recommend taking screenshots of your current filters now.
Google Drive Links & Permissions
Broken Links: Any internal links within a document that point to another Google Doc or Sheet will break because the Document IDs/URLs change during migration.
Action: After the move, you will need to update the links in your most-used documents.
Shared Access: You may lose access to documents owned by external parties that were shared with you; these will not be searchable post-migration.
Gemini, Keep, and Tasks
Data in these services cannot be migrated by the technical team.
Action: If you have critical notes in Google Keep, tasks in Google Tasks, or important prompts/history in Gemini, please copy and paste that information into a Google Doc before the migration date to ensure you have a copy.
